My name is Todd Phillips. I was born in Surrey memorial hospital on September 19th 1986. After graduating high school I went into the trades and worked construction for a while. After I got my second year certificate in masonry I changed course and went into welding. I was a welder for 3 years, got my B level welding ticket as well as my structural steel ticket. The job I worked on the most that most people will know about is the Golden Ears bridge connecting Langley to Maple Ridge. When this job was finished I went to work for a company that did subcontractor work for the military. We built special shipping containers that would fold out into bunks and kitchens. The military would use these to establish a forward base very fast. After a few job layoffs and changes I decided to follow in my fathers footsteps. He was a police officer on the Vancouver port for many years, so I decided to get my diploma in Criminology. I plan to hopefully get a job working for CBSA (Canada border service agency). Just recently I received my Canadian firearms license. After talking to some RCMP officers I found out that they employ people who help train them at their ranges. This is also another route I may take in jobs after my diploma is finished. I currently work for Princess Cruises and enjoy every minute of it. Unfortunately its only a seasonal job. I also do some monthly volunteer work for the RCMP. This includes speed watch and some community police station work. I have been in school for 2 years now and only have 1 year left on my diploma. My knowledge in Sociology is very little but I hope this course will help with that. I took this course because it is a requirement, but also because I would like to broaden my knowledge of the subject. I may decide to pursue my bachelor degree after i finish my diploma. This will all depend on how any work pans out. Life of a student can be very complicated and have very hard decisions.
